Sustainability Applied 2011 was a results-driven, interactive event focused on inspiring and driving action on sustainability and breaking down barriers to change. It highlighted experiences, approaches and expertise of leaders and practitioners on the practical application of sustainability solutions in the private and public sectors. Experts across these sectors collaborated to frame sustainability issues and discuss opportunities to apply and implement solutions to enhance competitiveness, minimize business risks and reduce our environmental footprint.

DURHAM SUSTAINABILITY STEWARDSHIP PROGRAM
2008-2011
The Durham Sustainability Stewardship Program (DSSP) was delivered by BLOOM in partnership with DSA and C2P2 from 2008-2011, with funding support from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. The program included delivery of Stakeholders Sustainability Forums in different municipalities in Durham Region, which created awareness on Sustainable Production & Consumption/Pollution Prevention principles and how these principles and tools can be applied daily, both at work and home. The forums also provided opportunities for stakeholders to build partnerships; share local environmental initiatives and best practices; showcase achievements of local environmental stewards; and discover what local businesses are doing to improve their environmental performance.

Cleaner and Greener Manufacturing Facility Staff Workshops: Tools for Greening the Bottom Line
October/November 2010
These two-day interactive workshops were for staff (plant managers; environmental, health & safety managers/coordinators; and others) from Ontario manufacturing facilities, subject to Ontario's Toxics Reduction Act regulations. Each workshop, delivered by BLOOM and CME in four regions of Ontario in the fall of 2010, entailed a comprehensive discussion and familiarization with the full toxics reduction and pollution prevention planning tool box, and built capacity for participants to utilize a range of methods and tools for greening the bottom line.

Cleaner and Greener Manufacturing Senior Executive Seminars: Demonstrating Business Value
September/October 2010
These high value, focused two-hour seminars were for senior executives from Ontario manufacturing facilities, subject to Ontario's Toxics Reduction Act regulations. The seminars were delivered by BLOOM and CME in four regions of Ontario in the fall of 2010, and emphasized the business case for adopting and implementing toxics reduction and pollution prevention planning. Presenters included experts and successful practitioners in the areas of industrial process optimization, pollution prevention and toxics reduction.

Reducing Environmental Footprint in the Fletcher's Creek Watershed
May 2010
On May 20th, 2010, Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) and BLOOM, with support from the City of Brampton, presented a highly successful workshop to provide stakeholders in the Fletcher's Creek Watershed and Peel Region (including businesses, government, schools, NGOs, public) with a forum to discuss and share information on pollution prevention opportunities while strengthening partnerships across stakeholder communities.
97 stakeholders from across the Fletcher's Creek Watershed and Peel Region attended and rated the Workshop very highly.

Reducing Carbon Footprint in the GTA
March 2010
On March 23rd, 2010, BLOOM presented "Reducing Carbon Footprint in the GTA" - a highly successful Climate Change Forum for stakeholders in the Greater Toronto Area at the Ajax Convention Centre.
The purpose of the Forum was to achieve increased understanding and awareness on climate change issues and highlight the opportunities to implement best energy efficiency practices to reduce carbon footprint among GTA-based stakeholders.
83 stakeholders from across the Greater Toronto Area attended and rated the Forum very highly.

Greening Your Business Bottom Line and Pollution Prevention
January 2009
On January 21st 2009, City of Toronto's Water Division and BLOOM presented "Greening Your Business Bottom Line and Pollution Prevention" - a workshop for stakeholders in the City of Toronto held at the Scarborough Civic Centre Council Chambers, Toronto, Ontario.
The purpose of the Workshop was to discuss and share information on how businesses in the City of Toronto can enhance their bottom line, reduce resource consumption and minimize waste through pollution prevention practices.
70 stakeholders from across the City of Toronto and surrounding GTA communities attended and rated the Workshop very highly.

Reducing Ecological Footprint in the Sheridan and Cooksville Creek Watersheds
April 2008
On April 25th, 2008, Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) in partnership with BLOOM and local Regional and Municipal partners, presented a Pollution Prevention Workshop at the Living Arts Centre in Mississauga.
46 Stakeholders from across the Sheridan and Cooksville Creek Watershed communities, including those from the industrial, commercial and institutional sectors attended this interactive workshop to discuss and share information on pollution prevention opportunities while strengthening partnerships across stakeholder communities.

YORK SUSTAINABILITY PROGRAM
2004-2007
BLOOM's York Sustainability Program was an initiative directed towards building awareness, providing support, and motivating action towards the adoption of sustainable environmental practices within York Region communities. This program was established in June 2004 with financial support from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). As part of the program's outreach activities, BLOOM in collaboration with the Canadian Centre for Pollution Prevention (C2P2) delivered eight P2 awareness generating stakeholder workshops in each municipality of York Region. In addition, BLOOM delivered more than twelve outreach sessions in elementary and high schools in York Region through events such as Earth Day Festivals, and conducted a teachers training session to York Region elementary school teachers to expand the boundaries of knowledge in the area of pollution prevention and environmental protection.
