PARTNERS The Bloom Centre for Sustainability (BLOOM) has collaborated with program partners from all levels of government, as well as conservation authorities and industry associations, to raise awareness and foster pollution prevention and sustainable business practices among Ontario's manufacturing community. Current Partnerships Government of Ontario As part of Ontario's Toxics Reduction Strategy, the Ontario Ministry of the Environment (MOE) is providing approximately $800,000 to BLOOM and CME to develop and deliver a Cleaner and Greener Manufacturing Program. BLOOM provides site-specific technical assistance under the umbrella of the Cleaner and Greener Manufacturing Program. This project has received funding support from the Government of Ontario. Such support does not indicate endorsement by the Government of Ontario of the contents of this material. Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (CME) BLOOM and CME are working together to deliver the Cleaner and Greener Manufacturing Program, which includes training, resources, technical and financial assistance, to demonstrate the business value of toxics reduction and pollution prevention planning, and encourage businesses across Ontario to achieve toxics reduction. Credit Valley Conservation BLOOM and Credit Valley Conservation are working together to increase the uptake of pollution prevention practices among Mississauga manufacturers through outreach workshops and technical assistance. Guelph Food Technology Centre BLOOM and the Guelph Food Technology Centre are working together to deliver a groundbreaking project to "Raise the Bar" and improve the sustainability performance in Ontario's food and beverage processing industry. The OTF also funded the highly successful York Sustainability Program, from 2004-2007.
Past Partnerships Environment Canada Environment Canada provided the original funding support for the BLOOM On-site Technical Assistance Program (formerly the Toronto Region Sustainability Program) from its inception, from 2000-01 to 2006-07. Environment Canada's contribution was critical to the initial design, development and delivery of the program, and to the environmental and economic benefits that BLOOM's manufacturing clients continue to achieve now and in the future. City of Toronto The City of Toronto's Economic Development Department provided funding and support for the BLOOM On-site Technical Assistance Program (formerly the Toronto Region Sustainability Program) from 2001-2003. Key objectives were to market the program in the City, build capacity, recognize the economic and environmental success by participating manufacturers, and demonstrate the cost avoidance opportunities identified through pollution prevention planning to achieve the City's environmental objectives in sewer use, smog and climate change. Toronto and Region Conservation (TRCA) TRCA partnered with BLOOM and Environment Canada (Ontario Region) from 2004-05 to 2006-07, to align and integrate key sustainability initiatives, and address the following priorities: CEPA toxics, smog, municipal sewer use requirements and the TRCA's The Living City objectives. TRCA provided promotional, marketing and communications support, and worked closely with BLOOM to expand the program with municipal and regional governments. Town of Markham BLOOM and the Town of Markham collaborated to deliver the Markham Manufacturers Sustainability Program. Technical and financial assistance are available for Markham-based manufacturers through the BLOOM On-site Technical Assistance Program.
